To provide any student enrolled in a graduate program in the School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) the opportunity to submit an appeal of an academic decision made by their degree program and receive a prompt review of the decision-making process.
This policy applies to students in all SMPH graduate programs. It does not apply to students in the SMPH health professions programs (Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Physical Therapy, Master of Genetic Counselor Studies, Master of Physician Assistant Studies, Master of Public Health).

This process does not apply to employment related issues for students holding graduate assistantships (RA/TA/PA) covered by UW-5082 Graduate Assistant Policies and Procedures (GAPP). Students holding an assistantship who believe there has been a violation of a specific provision of GAPP must utilize either the formal or informal process as detailed in the GAPP grievance procedures.
This process does not apply to graduate students in a graduate program in the SMPH who would like to submit an appeal of an academic decision. Students should refer to SMPH-9001 Grievance Policy for SMPH Graduate Programs.
