This policy includes all of the governance (Academic and Curricular Repository Action Committee)-approved language that appears at the top of Guide pages.
Policy:
Subjects Without Courses Due to Inactivity or Newness
For subjects that have been approved but do not have any active courses for the term in which a Guide is published, the following standard language will appear at the top of the page: "The subject [subject] does not have any active courses at time of Guide publication."
Example: "The subject ASIALANG does not have any active courses at time of Guide publication."
Promotional Pages
Promotional pages are designed to promote a recently approved program.
Promotional pages are published in the June and October publication of the Guide.
Under special circumstances, promotional pages will be published in the January publication of the Guide.
Promotional pages include the Overview and People tabs only.
When a program has been approved through all levels of campus governance but is not approved in time for a full page to be included in the June publication of the Guide, the program receives a promotional page in the October mid-cycle update.
Text is included at the top of the Overview tab. Approved language: "The first term for enrollment in the [award] is [first term of enrollment]."
Example: "The first term for enrollment in the Capstone Certificate in Data Analytics for Decision Making is spring 2019."
In some cases, programs require additional approvals beyond the University Academic Planning Council (UAPC).
Programs that require approval from the University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents (BOR) will not receive promotional pages until BOR approval has been granted.
If a program requires approval from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), the program may have a promotional page but text indicating that HLC approval is pending must be included.
Examples:
"The first term for enrollment in the M.S. in Design + Innovation is fall 2019 pending approval from the University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents."
"The first term for enrollment in the M.S. in Applied Biotechnology is fall 2019 pending approval from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC)."
