Summer term consists of more than 100 sessions, each of which has unique start and end dates, and deadlines to add, drop and withdraw from courses. This policy establishes the deadlines to add, drop or withdraw from a course in summer term.
Definitions:
Summer term
The academic year is comprised of fall and spring semesters and a summer term. The summer term begins after the end of spring semester in May and concludes before the start of fall semester in August.
Scope:
Students enrolled in summer term.
Policy:
The Office of the Registrar publishes add/drop deadlines for summer term in the session dates calendar. The deadlines are determined by session length.
A student who wishes to enroll in a course(s) for summer term must add the course(s) to their schedule in Course Search and Enroll before the Add Class deadline published in the session dates calendar.
A student who wishes to drop a course(s) for summer term must do so in Course Search and Enroll before one of the following published deadlines in the session dates calendar:
DR/W Transcript Notation Date, for the course to not appear on the transcript.
Drop Class Deadline, for the course to appear on the transcript with a grade of "DR".
A student who wishes to drop all courses during the summer term must do so via Course Search and Enroll before the Drop Class Deadline published in the session dates calendar. A course(s) that started but was dropped after the DR/W Transcript Notation Date will appear on the transcript with a grade of "DR". After all sessions in summer term are completed, the Office of the Registrar will process administrative withdrawals for students who were enrolled but dropped all courses, using the last class drop date as the withdrawal date.
