Because of our favorable experience with high school student employees, and because of the need to have local residents in some positions during university recesses, the following procedure has been established.
Policy:
High school students may be hired to fill openings in the Wisconsin Union only after it has been reasonably determined that there are no university students available to fill them, or the opening has been designated "TE"(temporary employment) for scheduling purposes.
High school student employees under 18 years of age must have work permits on file in the Union Human Resources Office before beginning work and are subject to the provisions of Wisconsin's Wage and Hour Law for minors.
High school students will be employed as student employees.
