All members joining the IBC on or after July 1, 2010 must take the UW–Madison New IBC Member Training provided by the Office of Biological Safety (OBS), as well as the required biological safety training modules required of all Principle Investigators (PIs) and laboratory personnel listed on biosafety protocols. This training should be completed prior to the new member’s first protocol review.
Note: The current required course for PIs and laboratory staff provided by the Office of Biological Safety is titled “Biosafety Required Training”; please go to Learn@UW to self- register for this course and other online courses. This computer-based training is available for UW-Madison faculty, staff, and students, as applicable, to take at their convenience.
Roles and Responsibilities
The OBS biosafety trainer(s) are responsible for conducting the new IBC member training.
