Chapter 8 of Wisconsin Administrative Code provides a code of ethics for university faculty and staff. This policy confirms the applicability of Chapter 8 to faculty and academic staff and extends the policy to all non-faculty UW Athletic Board members.
Policy:
It is the responsibility of each faculty and non-faculty Athletic Board member to make known to the Board any possible conflicts of interest.
When it appears that a material conflict may arise between the personal interests of a Board member and their public responsibilities to the Board, that member will submit a written statement to the chair of the Board and the chair of the Finance Committee describing the nature of the possible conflict and whether the member would be materially benefited by any decision rendered by the Board.
The chairs of the Board and the Finance Committee may, if appropriate, require that any Board member not participate in the consideration of any matter, where a conflict exists.
