If a student is called to jury duty and the duty is sustained over a period of three weeks or more, the student has the option to withdraw from classes with a full refund.
A student who is serving jury duty must notify their graduate program and make arrangements with faculty to make up missed work.
When jury duty extends past the last day of class, the instructor has the option to assign a grade of Incomplete (I) to the student. This grade will not result in academic probation or the removal of dissertator status, if applicable. It may, however, impact Satisfactory Progress if the incomplete grades are not resolved in a timely manner.
When a graduate student is not impaneled for actual service, but is on call, they must attend their scheduled course(s), research, seminar(s), etc.
